Christopher Cullen was the harbormaster at the Harper's Island Marina and one of the victims of John Wakefield's 2001 rampage.

History

Christopher Cullen was born on Harper's Island on September 29, 1951 to Jane and Louis Cullen. He worked on the docks with his father as a child, and greeted boats as they docked. Following high school, Cullen moved to Seattle and worked the docks there.

He moved back to Harper's Island with his wife, Wendy, four years later, and returned to the docks. His son Andrew was born a short time later. When his father passed away, Cullen took over as Harbor Master.

Death

Christopher Cullen is hung on the Tree of Woe.

John Wakefield returned to Harper's Island on October 4, 2001, seeking to enact a campaign of violent retribution. Cullen arrived late to work and witnessed a scuffle between Wakefield and fisherman Harris Antonini, calling the Sheriff's Station to report the incident.

By the time the two deputies arrived at the scene, Antonini had been killed and Wakefield had detonated the explosives he'd strewn across the marina, setting the docks ablaze and killing one of the deputies.

Cullen ran off, crying out for help. Wakefield eventually caught up to him, impaling him with the same head spade he'd used to kill another fisherman. Cullen's body was strung up, with those of Sarah Mills and Kate Seaver, from a desiccated willow tree near the Eastern Bluff.

Legacy

Following the murders, a memorial was built in Cullen's honor at the docks.

Trivia

• Cullen is the only male victim of the 2001 rampage whose legacy gets any significant attention in either series, with his son, Andrew, being a central figure in the events of Harper's Globe.
